trains, tiles & around @S Bento train station

localizada em pleno centro da cidade, a estação de S. Bento completou no passado dia 5 de Outubro 100 anos de vida, um marco que só por si a torna uma das principais atrações da cidade do Porto.

é ainda considerada uma das estações ferroviárias mais bonitas do mundo, e sobretudo famosa pelos seus magníficos painéis de azulejos.

recentemente, a estação entrou em remodelações, e paira no ar a polémica se num futuro próximo toda aquela zona envolvente irá sofrer grandes alterações....

verdade, não verdade??? 

não sabemos para já, mas achei piada fazer este um dos temas das minhas filmagens para o programa Olá Maria do Porto Canal e explorar um pouco também as ruas laterais (Rua da Madeira e Rua do Loureiro).

S.Bento train station completed last 5th October 100 years, and that fact would be enough to consider the train station one of the top attractions of the city.

but the train station is also considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the world, and famous for its walls full of tiles.

recently, the train station started some constructions, and its been said in a near future it will be completely different.

true, not true???

well, soon we will know, but I thought this would be a nice theme for my films for Porto Canal programme (Olá Maria), and decided to explore a little bit the lateral streets (Rua da Madeira and Rua do Loureiro).

inspiração de fim-de-semana....o mar...:)

no passado fim-de-semana rumei a Peniche com o intuito de assistir à etapa do Meo Rip Curl Pro em Portugal, mas os planos saíram-me furados e as condições do mar, do tempo e das ondas fez com que apanhasse o campeonato sempre em stand by.... azar mesmo....., pois logo na segunda-feira seguinte esteve um dia em cheio para o surf, mas eu já não estava por lá.... (não vi nem um único dos meus surfistas queridos!!!....:( (nota: John John Florence foi o vencedor)

mas! a vida seguia por isso ocupei o tempo a passear por ali e a maravilhar-me - como sempre - com a nossa costa, que naquela zona - costa oeste (Peniche, Nazaré,....) tem um mar e um areal de apaixonar qualquer um....

weekend inspiration.....the sea...:)

last wekend I went to Peniche with the idea to watch the Meo Rip Curl Pro Portugal, but my plans did not work as the sea, weather and waves conditions obliged the event to be in stand by .....I was really not lucky as on following monday conditions returned to be perfect....and I was no longer there... (did not see any of my favourite surfers....:( (adding a note: John John Florence was the winner)

anyway, I was there, so I spent my time through the area, getting amazed by the wonderful coast - the west coast (Peniche, Nazaré, Óbidos, ....) and I believe everyone has to fall in love with the sea there!

Árvore do Mundo é o mais recente restaurante vegetariano que abriu na cidade, desta vez na zona oriental (Rua Duque de Loulé) e pelas mão de Joana Esteves, atriz de formação mas com vasta experiência em hotelaria e cozinha, já tendo trabalhado noutros restaurantes vegetarianos.

Árvore do Mundo is the most recent vegetarian restaurant in Porto, located this time at the oriental area of the city (Rua Duque De Loulé), and opened by Joana Esteves, who is an actress but has several years experience in cooking in other restaurants, mostly in vegetarian restaurants.

o human fest aconteceu de 13 a 16 de Outubro no Pavilhão Rosa Mota, e foram 4 dias dedicados às terapias alternativas, à alimentação saudável e ao apelar das consciências para se viver de forma mais sustentável e num mundo melhor.

eu fui até lá pois sou fã destes temas e apologista deste estilo de vida, e há sempre tanto a aprender e partilhar entre uns e outros :)

human fest took place from the 13-16 October at Pavilhão rosa Mota, during 4 days dedicated to the alternative therapies, healthy lifestyle and food, and the appeal to take conscience of a sustainable and better world to live in.

I went there as I am a big fan of these themes, and there is always a lot to learn and to share with others.

isto sim, é um verdadeiro feito histórico - celebrar 100 anos, cheios de história e muita tradição.

falo da icónica loja de produtos tradicionais portugueses "Comer e Chorar por Mais", situada na Rua Formosa - quem não conhece?? :) - que acabou de festejar o seu centésimo aniversário ontem, dia 19 de Outubro, com bolo e muitas iguarias típicas para livre degustação.

this is a real historical moment - the 100 years celebration, full of history and tradition.

I am speaking about the well known grocery shop that has portuguese traditional products called "Comer e chorar por Mais" located at Rua Formosa - who doesn't know it?? :) - which celebrated yesterday the 19th October its 100 anniversary, offering cake and a lot of typical products to taste.

I was there to celebrate with them!

de 12 a 15 de Outubro teve lugar mais uma edição do Portugal Fashion, que desta vez se distribuiu, no Porto, pelos palcos do Edifício dos CTT, a Alfândega do Porto e o lindíssimo novo Terminal de Cruzeiros de Leixões.

o primeiro dia em que o evento aconteceu no Porto, dia 16, foi totalmente dedicado aos jovens estilistas promissores (Bloom), teve lugar no edifício dos CTT e estava aberto ao público em geral.

confesso que despertei para as panquecas bem tarde na minha vida, mas agora que descobri que podem ser fonte de delicioso prazer, sempre que tenho oportunidade, lá vai uma panqueca:)

n'O Diplomata, são mesmo boas - yammi - e têm a particularidade de se poder escolher de aveia, logo mais saudáveis!

a minha favorita é a massa de aveia, e cobertura de manteiga de amendoim e mirtilos, bem,....não preciso dizer mais nada, pois não?

I admit I started loving pancakes late in my life, but from the moment I discovered they can be a source of pleasure, whenever I can, I eat a pancake! 

and at O Diplomata they are really good - yammi - and you have the choice for oat pancakes, much more healthy.

my favourite one is with an oat base, and peanut butter and blueberries topping, well, there is no need to say anything else, is it??

o HumanFest irá acontecer no Pavilhão Rosa Mota, no Porto, a partir de amanhã, 13 de Outubro,  até domingo, dia 16.

é um festival que pretende despertar consciências para um mundo melhor, com espaço para uma feira alternativa, alimentação saudável e vegetariana, saúde preventiva, concertos meditativos, terapias, enfim, um enorme conjunto de atividades e temas aos quais deveríamos dar mais atenção, e dos quais eu sou particularmente fã, por isso, ....não vou faltar!

quem se junta a mim?

o evento conta com uma área livre, onde decorre a feira, mas tem também uma área restrita com palestras, workshops concertos intimistas para os quais será necessário inscrição.

it is a festival that wants to bring conscious to a better world, with a place for an alternative fair, healthy eating, vegetarianism, preventive health, concerts, therapies, and a lot of activities and themes to which we should pay more attention, and of which I am particularly fond, so,....meet me there!

the event has a free zone, with the fair, and some restricted areas for workshops and small talks, to which you should register first.

ainda não tinha dito por aqui, mas desde o início de Outubro que o Viver o Porto está todas as segundas-feiras no programa Olá Maria, no Porto Canal, com uma rubrica intitulada Viver o Porto :) e onde a ideia é falar um pouco sobre as ruas e zonas da cidade através de um pequeno vídeo.

depois de ter começado com a Rua das Flores, (em breve partilho também o vídeo), ontem foi dia de divulgar uma das minhas zonas predilectas da cidade, a Cantareira, ou um pouquinho da Foz do Douro.

os vídeos são para já completamente amadores e feitos por mim mesma, mas nada como abraçar novos desafios e evoluir com eles:)
(sugestões de melhoria, ajudas, assistentes de produção... aceitam-se!)

since the beginning of October that Viver o Porto appears every monday on TV - at Olá Maria programme (Porto Canal) with a rubric called Viver o Porto :) and where the idea is to talk about some streets or areas in the street through some small videos.

I started with Rua das Flores (I will share the video soon) , but yesterday I presented one of my favourite spots in Porto - Cantareira, or a little bit of Foz do Douro.

a Maria Bôla comemorou um ano de vida e eu fui à festa :)

primeiro porque gosto sempre de festas, segundo, porque gosto do espaço e do que por lá se come e terceiro porque gosta da Maria, que é muito simpática.

e a festa foi muito bonita, com muita música e convidados, e só desejo muitos mais anos de vida a estes espaços que dignificam a nossa cidade.

first, because I always like parties, second, because I like the place and what we can eat there, and last because I like Maria, a very nice girl.
